Modern developments have emerged in Ukraine that are increasingly “planting” Shahedis unharmed (photo)

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are increasingly demonstrating Shahed (Geranium) barrage munitions that they manage to land intact.

Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Fediyenko said that the country already has several developments capable of neutralizing such drones.

“Ukraine has a modern development, and not just one, that can interfere with the systems of such means by means of electronic warfare (EW),” said Oleksandr Fediyenko.

The MP also added that special devices are being installed throughout the country to affect Russian barrage munitions.

“This is not one, not two, not three transmitters of influence on such aircraft. These are hundreds of thousands of devices that are being installed across the country,” the MP added.

The Russian “Geranium” (Shahed) has four antennas. These are components of the satellite navigation system, they are located inside the airframe.

The Russian-made navigation unit has elements of the Kometa electronic warfare system.

The receiver is designed to protect navigation signals from intentional and unintentional interference to stabilize the signals of satellite navigation systems.

As a reminder, in January 2024, at least 259 Shahed-136/131 drones were spotted flying over Ukraine, launched from Russia.

It is reported that only 58 of them were not shot down, or 22 percent.

It is not unlikely that some drones crash due to their own malfunctions. The Shahed (“Geranium”) is powered by MD275 engines, while the previous version of the UAV was equipped with an MDR208 engine.

The Russians also started painting barrage munitions black to make them harder to detect in the night sky.
