Modernized AH-64E Apache V6.5 attack helicopter makes its first flight

AH-64E Apache, upgraded to the V6.5 standard, made its first flight. This was reported by Boeing.

The modernized attack helicopter took to the skies for the first time at the US company’s plant in Arizona. The manufacturer is confident that AH-64E Apache V6.5 will be able to dominate future battlefields.

The US Department of Defense approved the V6.5 standard several years ago. It includes software updates to expand and improve the interface. The list of innovations includes enhanced features of the Link 16 communication system, improved compatibility for the integration of new systems, and optimization of route planning and attack systems.

The AH-64E Apache V6.5 uses the new Aerospace T901 engines manufactured by General Electric. They have more power, can extend the range and increase the level of maneuverability.
