NASA launches streaming service

NASA intends to launch an on-demand streaming service, as well as update its app and redesign its websites to make it easier to access the agency’s content.

“Our vision is to inspire humanity through NASA’s only world-class web resource,” says Jeff Seaton, NASA Chief Information Officer. To accomplish this goal, the nasa.gov and science.nasa.gov websites are being updated to share a common search engine and navigation system. This will be a beta version of the site, which will be updated on a regular basis over the coming months, according to a statement on NASA‘s website.

According to pcmag, later this year, the NASA app for smartphones and tablets will be updated to support the launch of a new NASA streaming service called NASA+. This advertising service will provide access to“Emmy Award-winning live reporting and insights into NASA missions through collections of original video series, including several new series launching via the streaming service.”

NASA+ will be available to watch through the app on iOS and Android devices, on the web, and through streaming media players including Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, and we have to assume Google Chromecast devices as well.

Nicky Fox, associate administrator for NASA Headquarters’ Science Mission Directorate, said: “From exploring exoplanets to better understanding Earth’s climate and the Sun’s impact on our planet, as well as exploring the solar system, our new science and flagship websites, as well as upcoming NASA+ videos, showcase our discovery programs in an interdisciplinary and cross-cutting way that ultimately creates stronger connections with our visitors and viewers.”

It is unknown whether this service will offer a choice of Ukrainian language.
