New Android 15 feature can increase battery life

The new version of the Android 15 operating system will introduce a feature that can significantly increase the battery life of your phone.

One of Android Authority’s specialists noticed lines referring to the new Adaptive Timeout option in Android 15 Developer Preview 2. It automatically turns off your phone screen when you’re not using it. This can significantly extend battery life, especially if you usually use your phone with the screen at maximum brightness. This feature also provides additional security by preventing unwanted viewing of information on your phone screen when you’re not using it.

You can currently set your Android phone screen to time out for 15 seconds or up to 30 minutes. You can also set the phone to self-lock immediately after a screen timeout or after a predefined delay ranging from 5 seconds to 30 minutes. Some phones have a “Screen Attention” feature that makes sure the screen doesn’t turn off while you’re looking at it.

According to Mishaal Rahman, the leaker who discovered the feature in Android 15 Developer Preview 2, this feature will only be available on Google Pixel phones running Android 15. However, other phone manufacturers may also implement this feature in their devices. Android 15 is still under development, and the new OS is expected to be unveiled later this fall.
