New feature in TikTok: social network tests the ability to upload videos up to 15 minutes

The short video platform TikTok has started testing a new feature: a limited number of users in some regions can now upload videos of up to 15 minutes.

TikTok said that the new video length limit will apply to only a few regions, but the company did not disclose which ones. It is also not known how long the testing of the new feature will last and whether it will become publicly available. It is noted that the limit has increased from 10 to 15 minutes, and the download function can be used both from a phone and a computer.

It is indicated that the increase in video length makes TikTok a greater competitor for YouTube, as the company seeks to attract creators of longer videos who use the competitor’s platform.

TikTok gained its popularity as a platform for short videos: at first, it was possible to post videos up to 15 seconds long, but later the limit was increased to one minute, and later to three. Since February 2022, the maximum video length has been 10 minutes.
