New wreckage of Russian drone “Geranium” found in Moldova (photo)
The Moldovan border police found another wreckage of the Russian kamikaze drone Shahed (Geranium) in the border region of the country.
This is stated in the message of the department.
The wreckage of the Russian drone was found near the village of Etulia Noua, which is less than two kilometers from the border with Odesa region.
Information about the wreckage was quickly transferred to the competent authorities, and access to the area where the fragments were found was restricted.
The wreckage of the Geranium was found in a field about 2 kilometers from the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and about 5 kilometers from the village.
According to the photos published by the Moldovan border guards, it can be concluded that the warhead of the Russian kamikaze drone has detonated.
This is evidenced by the crater that formed after the explosion and the torn fragments of the fuselage and components of the drone, which are scattered at a great distance from each other.
Border guards emphasize that the authorities are taking all necessary measures to maintain order, peace and public safety, and there is no danger to the community.
On February 12, the wreckage of a Russian Geranium drone was found in Moldova.
This is not the first time that Russian munitions have fallen on the territory of Moldova.
In October 2022, a Russian cruise missile fell near the village of Naslavcha. Private houses were damaged as a result of the rocket fall.
At the time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova reported that the Russian missile was shot down by Ukrainian air defense.
