Next year, USB-C will become a single EU standard for electronic devices
EU authorities continue to work on reducing the volume of e-waste. Starting next year, electronic devices sold on the European market will have to have USB-C.
Initially, the new requirement will apply to smartphones and tablets. It was because of this legislative initiative that Apple began to equip its devices with USB-C
Yesterday, the European Commission’s X-account posted a message that USB-C will be considered a unified standard starting next month. The report emphasizes that the adoption of USB-C as a common standard will provide electronic device owners with better charging technology, reduce electronic waste, and save users from having to buy multiple chargers.
🔌The wait is finally over.
From 2024, USB-C will be the common standard for electronic devices in the EU.
It means better charging technology, reduced e-waste and less fuss to find the chargers you need! #DigitalEU

The USB-C port should be available in laptops sold in the EU market by 2026. Official Brussels decided to establish a “transition period” to give computer manufacturers time to adapt to the new requirements.
