In its latest report, Nova Poshta shared its successful achievements, including the delivery of 250 thousand international shipments by air in May and June 2023.
This historic success was made possible by cooperation with Supernova Airlines, a subsidiary of the company, which leased an ATR 72 from RAF-Avia, an airline based in Latvia. In total, 14 flights were operated between Riga and Rzeszow, which allowed Nova Poshta to test its capabilities in delivering international packages to Ukraine using its own air transport.
Previously, before Supernova Airlines, shipments from online retailers such as Aliexpress, Amazon, 6pm, iHerb, and eBay would first arrive at one of the European airports, including Riga. The packages were then loaded onto trucks and delivered to Ukraine by land.
Now, by using airplanes to transport packages to Rzeszow Airport, the closest to Ukraine, Nova Poshta hopes to reduce delivery time to Ukraine to 36 hours.
Supernova Airlines plans to operate this route twice a week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Supernova Airlines owns two AN-26 cargo planes that are not yet in use in Europe due to bureaucratic delays. This forced Supernova Airlines to temporarily lease an aircraft from RAF-Avia.
According to Nova Poshta, in the long term, Supernova Airlines plans to expand its fleet by adding cargo versions of modern aircraft from Boeing or Airbus.
Supernova Airlines was founded in 2021, and in January 2023, it was the first Ukrainian company to receive an operator’s certificate during a full-scale war. Despite the war in Ukraine, Supernova Airlines continues to go through all the procedures required to operate regular cargo flights to and from the EU, where the airline’s aircraft are based during the closure of Ukraine’s airspace.
