NYT: Google is developing Genesis, an AI assistant for news writing

According to New York Times sources, Google is testing a product that uses artificial intelligence to create news and offers it to news organizations such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and News Corp (owner of The Wall Street Journal).

The working name of the tool is Genesis. It is not yet known how it will differ from the existing AI systems for creating articles, as well as from the Google Bard chatbot.

Genesis is probably capable of generating news if you provide it with the details of events. Most likely, it will become something like an assistant to a journalist, not a full-fledged replacement. Current language models are currently not good at fact-checking, but they can create a very convincing text based on false data. CNET and Gizmodo have experimented with full AI news writing, both of which failed.

Christopher Nolan aptly expressed this theme at the pre-premiere screening of the movie Oppenheimer. In his opinion, Silicon Valley should adopt the concept of responsibility, and there should be accountability when implementing innovations.
