On Christmas night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with drones for 6.5 hours
From the evening of December 24 and into the night of December 25, Russian terrorists attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones and two aircraft missiles. Air defense forces managed to shoot down almost all enemy targets. This was reported by Channel 24.
On the morning of December 25, the Air Force Command reported the results of the battle in the air. It is noted that last night the enemy launched 31 Shahed UAVs from the areas of Chauda and Balaklava (occupied Crimea).
The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 28 kamikaze attack drones in Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kirovohrad and Khmelnytskyi regions.
In addition, the enemy also used an X-59 guided missile in the Zaporizhzhia sector and an X-31P anti-aircraft missile from the Black Sea. Both targets were destroyed.
The drone attack on the South lasted 6.5 hours
The Southern Defense Forces reported on the results of air defense work. They said that the attack lasted 6.5 years.
First, Russian tactical aviation fired X-59 missiles in the direction of Kropyvnytskyi and X-31P missiles in the direction of Chornomorsk in Odesa region. The air defense units did an excellent job – both missiles were destroyed.
Air Defense Forces “South” destroyed 22 Shahed UAVs:
- 17 in Odesa region;
- 3 in Kherson region;
- 1 in Mykolaiv region;
- 1 in Kirovograd region.
“Enemy drones launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea were attacking from different directions, trying to exhaust Ukrainian air defense and hit as many targets as possible. The enemy’s priority remains the port infrastructure and other objects important for the region’s existence“, the statement said.
It is also known that another 5 enemy “Shahed” were shot down in Dnipropetrovs’k region.
“Five enemy “Shahed” were destroyed. Yesterday evening and later in the night they were shot down by our servicemen from the Vostok military group.“, – said Mykola Lukashuk, the head of Dnipropetrovs’k council.
He clarified that 2 UAVs were shot down in Synelnyk district, 2 more in Dniprovsky district and 1 in Pavlohrad district.
One enemy Shahed flew to the West of the country. It was destroyed in the Khmelnytsky region.
This was confirmed by the “West” command.l In Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration clarified that no information about the dead, injured and destruction was received.
The consequences of the attack
The wreckage of the downed UAV caused damage to technical facilities in the port infrastructure of Odesa, and in Rozdilnyansky district, the wreckage also damaged an inoperable administrative building and a warehouse of a mothballed facility, and the fire was quickly extinguished. No people were injured.
At the same time, a hit was not avoided in Beryslav district of Kherson region. A fire broke out in the warehouse, which firefighters quickly extinguished.
In Dniprovsky district, the remnants of enemy hardware fell on the territory of a non-operational enterprise, setting a one-story building on fire. The fire was extinguished by the rescuers. No people were injured.
