OpenAI has taught ChatGPT to memorize facts about users

OpenAI has started testing ChatGPT’s memory management features. Now you can ask a chatbot to memorize something or forget what it already remembers, according to the OpenAI blog. The company believes that this will make communication with ChatGPT more efficient and convenient.

  • When communicating with a chatbot, users can ask to memorize important facts or details so that the system can take them into account when creating answers.
  • “For example, if you specify that you have a child and she likes jellyfish, then when you ask ChatGPT to help you create a birthday card for her, it will suggest a jellyfish in a party hat,” OpenAI explained.
  • Users can also manage ChatGPT’s memory. To do this, we added a personalization section to the settings. You can turn off memory so that additional knowledge does not affect the creation of answers.
  • OpenAI has already started releasing an update with ChatGPT memory features for some users. After testing, the company plans to improve the mode and open access to all.

According to FT sources, OpenAI’s revenues have exceeded $2 billion on an annualized basis. The tremendous success of its flagship product ChatGPT puts the company among the fastest-growing tech companies in history, the publication noted.

OpenAI, in which Microsoft is an investor, believes that it will be able to more than double this figure in 2025 due to increased interest from business clients looking to use generative AI tools in their operations.

Its rapid growth has allowed OpenAI to join the ranks of a handful of Silicon Valley companies, including Google and Meta, that have reached $1 billion in revenue in the ten years since its founding.
