Paratroopers of the 82nd Brigade demonstrate training with Challenger 2 tanks (video)
The British Army has handed over more than 10 Challenger 2 tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The paratroopers showed how the military is preparing for combat operations.
The Ukrainian army has 13 Challenger 2 tanks in service. Paratroopers of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated training with British vehicles. The video was posted by the brigade’s press service on Facebook.
The paratroopers trained in conditions as close to combat as possible and with a psychological impact on the soldiers. In a real battle, a soldier’s attention can be distracted by the sound of an FPV drone, the roar of an approaching tank, or the explosion of a mine as an assault team approaches a trench. Therefore, these elements were practiced during the training to keep the paratroopers focused on the task at hand.
“The paratroopers are training tirelessly, learning to overcome their own fear, constantly leaving their comfort zone, practicing tactics and accuracy of fire,” the paratroopers said.
The footage of the training shows British Challenger 2 tanks, FPV drone operators, simulated combat in trenches, and other maneuvers.
On January 23, the UK unveiled the first prototype of the Challenger 3 tank, which is a deep modification of the Challenger 2. The British Army expects to receive 148 tanks.
