Poland and Germany create a joint coalition of armored vehicles to support Ukraine
On March 26, Poland and Germany launch a coalition of armored vehicles for Ukraine. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said this at a meeting with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius.
“This is one of the most important coalitions that have been created, we are the two leading countries of this project, and other partners such as the UK, Sweden, and Italy have joined it,” said the head of the Polish Defense Ministry.
According to Pistorius, the armor coalition is “especially important at a time when Russia is trying to divide the West and undermine our cohesion every day.”
He called on the allies to strengthen Ukraine’s offensive and defensive capabilities in the form of shells and other weapons.
The ministers also discussed the initiative of joint purchases of ammunition by the EU countries for Ukraine.
Ukraine’s allies have already formed several coalitions focused on building its air force and information technology capabilities. These include a tank coalition, an armored personnel carrier supply coalition, a mine action coalition, a US-led F-16 aircraft transfer coalition, an air defense coalition, and an IT coalition.
