Poland confirms that a Russian cruise missile flew over Polish territory for almost a minute

Russian missile enters Polish airspace, monitored by radar

During the attack on Ukraine, a Russian missile entered Polish airspace near the city of Osierdow and flew over the Lublin Voivodeship, alerting Polish and allied aircraft

During the morning attack on Ukraine on Sunday, March 24, one of the Russian missiles violated Ukraine’s western border and entered the airspace of neighboring Poland. It flew there for 39 seconds. In response, Poland sent up its air force, but did not shoot down the facility.

According to the Ministry of Defense of Poland on the X network, at 4:23 a.m., one of the cruise missiles launched by the Russian Federation’s long-range aviation violated Polish airspace. The targets of the strikes were cities in western Ukraine.

“The object entered Polish space near the city of Ocerdow (Lublin Voivodeship) and stayed there for 39 seconds. It was monitored by military radars throughout the flight,” the statement said.

The Ministry also reports that all the necessary procedures have been launched to guarantee the safety of Poland’s airspace. Among other things, Polish and allied aviation was activated.

No shots were fired by aircraft and air defense systems to destroy the Russian missile, as it changed course and returned to Ukraine. But the military was ready to hit it and controlled the situation on its territory, according to the country’s Defense Ministry.
