Poland tells how many troops will be deployed to the border with Belarus

The decision was made to support the Polish Border Guard in the face of rising tensions on the Polish-Belarusian border.

Poland will deploy thousands of its troops to the border with Belarus to support its border guard service. This information was announced on Thursday, August 10, by the head of the Polish Defense Ministry, Mariusz Blaszczak, during a broadcast on Radio Jedynka.

According to Blashchak, there will be about 10,000 troops on the border, 4,000 of whom will be directly supporting the border guards, and another 6,000 will be in reserve. According to Blashchak, such a move will help “scare off the aggressor so that he does not dare to attack us.”

As a reminder, the level of tension on the Polish-Belarusian border has increased significantly after the incident on August 1, when Belarusian Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters violated the state border by flying into the Polish village of Bialowieza.

Later, it became known that the Wagnerites located in Belarus are concentrated opposite the Suwalki corridor and their number there may exceed 4,000, and according to some reports, as many as 10,000.

According to Polish experts, the likely scenario for the Wagnerites’ actions on the border with Poland could be both provocations and stirring up anti-Ukrainian sentiment through terrorist attacks and other means.
