Refugees from Ukraine will have to pay for certain routes from the beginning of summer. Other rules for free use of the railway remain unchanged.
From June 1, Poland will change the rules for issuing free tickets to Ukrainians for rail travel. Passengers from Ukraine will be able to travel free of charge only on routes from the cities of Chelm, Dorogusk, Lublin, Hrubieszów, Przemyśl, Zagórz, Yaroslavl and Rzeszów, Ukrzaliznytsia reported.
Other rules for free use of Polish railways remain unchanged. Ukrainians can take advantage of free travel on 2nd class trains TLK and IC. These include children, women, men over the age of 60 and men with disabilities who crossed the border after 24 February.
Free tickets are issued at the box office upon presentation of a foreign passport of a citizen of Ukraine or a travel document ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ or a notice of the PESEL number.
Citizens with disabilities also need to present supporting documents.
