Polish Rak self-propelled mortars spotted in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (photo)

The press service of the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade published a series of photos showing that our military are already using 120-mm Rak self-propelled mortars manufactured by Polish Huta Stalowa Wola on the battlefield against the Russian occupation forces.

“A competent mortar commander is a master sergeant, a skillful and responsible serviceman, a worthy comrade-in-arms. That’s why he has the call sign ‘Super’,” the brigade commented on the photo.

It remains unknown how many such mortars the Ukrainian Defense Forces have received. Judging by the published photos, the brigade is armed with a wheeled version of the Polish Rak mortar – we recall that earlier the Poles also presented a version with a tracked chassis designated LPG (light tracked platform).

In early April of this year, it became known that Ukraine and Poland had agreed to supply the Defense Forces with three company sets of Rak mortars, while in 2016-2021 the production rate was 16 vehicles per year, or two company sets.

At the same time, a company’s Rak mortar set consists of eight mortars, four command vehicles, three transport vehicles, two reconnaissance vehicles and one repair vehicle. That is, a full set of 18 vehicles, respectively, three company sets of 54 vehicles, of which 24 are self-propelled mortars.

Polish Rak mortars should be a good reinforcement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
