Postmen on “tuk-tuks”, Ukrposhta tests new transport for parcel delivery (photo)

Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta, said that the state-owned enterprise, together with Ukrainian veteran businesses, has developed a new vehicle for postmen that is more suitable for transporting parcels.

According to Smelyansky, with the growth of e-commerce and the development of drug delivery, postmen are receiving fewer newspapers and letters, but more parcels, and therefore “the bicycle is not so relevant.”

“Together with a Ukrainian manufacturer (a veteran business), we have developed a pilot model for postmen, which we are also starting to test. I test everything personally. We also thank them for their support. And all researchers should not worry – all purchases will be made in Prozorro,” Ukrposhta CEO wrote on his social media.

He also showed a project of a mobile Ukrposhta trailer that could quickly replace a post office damaged by Russian shelling. Its prototype will soon be tested in the frontline regions of Ukraine.

“I would like to thank our Ukrainian manufacturers who have created such a great prototype for the pilot project, which will be sent to the combat region for testing in the coming weeks,” Smelyansky said.

Earlier, the Ukrposhta CEO spoke about plans to robotize the company’s processes. According to him, this will allow processing 8,000 parcels per hour, while the manual processing is only 600.
