Pouring concrete over evidence of crimes: in Mariupol, the occupiers are “repairing” the Drama Theater (video)
The Russian occupiers had previously talked about restoring the theater building. Now this term has been replaced by “update” in official documents.
In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Donetsk region, Russian invaders destroy evidence of the bombing of the drama theater by pouring concrete over everything. This was announced on September 4 by the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko.
“The Drama Theater. They started to make it look like a repair. They are pouring concrete over the remains of physical evidence of the bombing,” he wrote.
The mayor’s advisor also noted that the Russian occupiers had previously used the term “restoration” to refer to the reconstruction of the cultural institution they had bombed. Now they have removed the term “restoration” and the theater in Mariupol is being “renewed.”
Russians drop a bomb on the Drama Theater in Mariupol
As a reminder, on March 16, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces dropped an air bomb on the roof of the Mariupol Drama Theater, which was a shelter for local residents. According to various sources, several hundred people died under the rubble of the building. It is known that at the time of the air strike, about 1,500 people were there.
Earlier it was reported that in the occupied Mariupol, Russians are trying to erase all references to Ukraine. Damaged buildings are being massively demolished in the city and evidence of war crimes committed by the Russian Armed Forces is being removed.
According to the mayor’s advisor, Petro Andriushchenko, the 41-year-old commander of the Russian air regiment, who was born in the Ukrainian city of Ovruch, turned out to be the “number one killer of Mariupol residents.” The order to bomb the Drama Theater, maternity hospital and children’s hospital in Mariupol was given by 41-year-old Serhiy Atroshchenko. He was born in the Zhytomyr region and later lived in Russia and the occupied Crimea.
