Production of Patria infantry fighting vehicles may be launched in Ukraine
The management of Patria, a Finnish company, is considering the possibility of starting operations in the Ukrainian market. Yle journalists were the first to report it.
The material they published suggests that Kyiv is interested in setting up production of Patria wheeled vehicles. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are already familiar with them, as the Polish Rosomak is a licensed copy of the Finnish BMP.
The launch of armored vehicles in Ukraine will be the second successful case for Patria. In Poland, the Finnish infantry fighting vehicle is produced under the name Rosomak.
The current version of the armored vehicle is the Patria AMV XP. It was designed in Finland in 2013. To date, this armored personnel carrier has not been discontinued. This is because it turned out to be quite successful. The weight of the armored vehicle is 32 tons. The armor thickness in the frontal projection of the BMP is 30 mm. The vehicle can withstand the explosion of a 10-kilogram high-explosive mine under the body or wheel. Patria claims that it can withstand a shot from an RPG-7 grenade launcher.
