R-18 drones destroyed two armored personnel carriers and a “secret” Russian special vehicle (video)

Each R-18 drone carries three powerful bombs, which allows the military to conduct multiple strikes and finish off the surviving equipment.

On the night of June 27, a unit of the Magyar Birds from the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed four units of Russian equipment using R-18 drones. The company commander, Robert Brovdi, with the call sign “Magyar,” provided details in a YouTube video.

During the day, aerial reconnaissance spotted several armored personnel carriers in the forest, which the Russians tried to hide under the cover of trees, and at night sent R-18 bombers to their positions. Each of the UAVs carries three rounds of ammunition designed specifically to penetrate armor, as well as a thermal imaging camera for nighttime operation.

“Magyar’s Birds successfully blew up two armored personnel carriers when they saw an unplanned target – a Russian Armed Forces truck driving along a dirt road to one of the positions. The operator decided to attack the vehicle on the move, and the first bomb fell slightly to the left, but damaged the wheels and fuel tank, forcing the vehicle to stop. The five occupants managed to get out and run away when the second shell hit the engine, piercing it through.

The fourth target was a special vehicle of the Russian Armed Forces, which, after three hits, caught fire and burned for several hours. Robert Brovdi refused to disclose the name and purpose of the vehicle, noting that the military would recognize it.

“Due to the current nature of the hostilities, I cannot show daytime detox programs for some time. Fill up on nighttime jaga-jaga,” he added on Telegram.

The R-18 drones were developed by Aerorazvydka and are now manufactured by FRDM. These are copters with eight engines that can lift ammunition weighing up to 5 kg; most often, the Ukrainian military uses RKG-3 grenades or RKG-1600 bombs.

Recently, the Magyars’ Birds crashed a column of the Russian Armed Forces with an R18 drone on the move. The explosions destroyed 3 infantry fighting vehicles and a truck.

FRDM has announced the development of a new R-34 attack drone. It is based on the same architecture as the R-18, but has improved performance.
