Rada preliminarily approves draft law on mobilization of convicts
In the first reading, the Verkhovna Rada supported draft law No. 11079 on the mobilization of convicts.
The document was supported by 281 parliamentarians, said MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak of the Voice party.
According to Zhelezniak, the risks contained in the document on anti-corruption and serious crimes should be removed before the second reading.
According to the Council of Europe’s penitentiary statistics, as of January 2020, the number of prisoners in Ukraine was 52,609.
