The Sikorsky company presented the prototype of the Raider X combat helicopter as part of the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft project.
The director of development of Sikorsky Army Programs and Innovations said that the rotorcraft is 90% ready. At the same time, the company has 98% of the components to complete the work on the aircraft. Raider X is being developed at the request of the US Army.
The main armament is located under the chin of the helicopter. Raider X received a 20mm gun and Hellfire missiles. Modular launchers can be placed in the fuselage to reduce drag during flight. The current prototype helicopter does not yet have an 8-blade pusher on the tail end and the main rotor blades.
Obviously, supplying 2% of the components and completing 10% of the helicopter construction will take some time. But even so, officials of the Sikorsky company do not comment on the timing of completion of work on Raider X and departure for flight tests.
