“In the second half of 2023, Ukraine will receive two newest Skynex air defense missile systems, which include airburst munitions. The Skynex systems will be installed on new Rheinmetall HX 8×8 military trucks,” the statement said.
Skynex is a 35 mm self-propelled anti-aircraft gun developed and manufactured by Rheinmetall.
It was introduced in November 2021. The Skynex is a wheeled self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle equipped with an Oerlikon Mk3 rifled automatic gun for 35 mm AHEAD rounds.
The main purpose of the complex is to protect military bases, infrastructure facilities, and airfields from various types of enemy aircraft, UAVs, and cruise missiles.
As a reminder, Rheinmetall will protect its plant in Ukraine from Russian air strikes with its own air defense systems. The CEO of the concern said that he was not abandoning his plans to set up a plant in Ukraine.
