Roketsan is working on a secret anti-tank missile UMTAS-GM

The Turkish defense company Roketsan is working on a new aircraft missile. It is called UMTAS-GM.

The missile is included in the list of 40 secret developments of the Turkish manufacturer. This was stated by Roketsan CEO Murat Ikinci during a conversation with journalists.

The company has already created a prototype of the missile and is conducting tests. Mass production will begin at the end of 2023. According to the CEO, the UMTAS-GM will have an extended range compared to the UMTAS anti-tank missile, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 8 km.

The Roketsan project is intended to fill the Turkish Armed Forces’ need for anti-tank munitions. The UMTAS-GM will be carried by the new T29 ATAK-II helicopter. The company also plans to sell the missile to other countries.

The UMTAS-GM is being developed as a competitor to the Israeli Spike anti-tank missile. Technical specifications have not yet been specified.
