Romania has accumulated record reserves of gas for the heating season
Romania has more than three billion cubic meters of natural gas in storage ahead of winter, which is a record amount.
The Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, said this on Monday, “European Truth” reports.
Popescu confirmed that the vaults are 97.75% full.
“I repeat: we will not have a problem with gas this winter. The population and the economy will not suffer,” the minister wrote on Facebook.
The volume of gas reserves on Monday amounted to more than three million cubic meters, which is 701 million more than in the same period of 2021.
Romania has met the European Commission’s requirement to fill at least 80% of storage facilities by mid-September.
Also, there is a high probability that Romania will help Moldova get through the heating season against the background of a decrease in gas supplies from Russia and an increase in energy prices.
