Rumors about the transfer of four NASAMS batteries to Ukraine have not been confirmed
The US Department of Defense disclosed the details of the contract concluded on August 26. From the message published the day before on the website of the Pentagon, it follows that the amount of the agreement amounted to 182 million USD. Its executor is Raytheon M&D (a subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies).
In accordance with the agreements reached, the contractor will ship to the customer, represented by the Pentagon, two NASAMS batteries, the supply of which was announced as part of the July 1 defense support package. Thus, Ukraine will receive two SAMs instead of four.
William Laplante, who is the deputy head of the Pentagon, noted on this occasion that NASAMS are proven air defense systems. With their help, Ukraine will be able to strengthen its defense against advanced air threats, including cruise missiles.
The contract for the supply of NASAMS was concluded by the Department of Defense as part of the third USAI package, which included 150,000 155-mm artillery shells, as well as four counter-battery radars.
