Russia blocked 100 citizens of Canada, among them Stepan Bandery

In this way, the Kremlin took revenge for the sanctions previously imposed by Canada

The Russian Foreign Ministry imposed sanctions against a hundred Canadian citizens, including high-ranking officials, businessmen, employees of media and financial structures, and the cultural sphere.

Among those who are now banned from entering Russia are the head of Canada’s Communications Security Authority, Carolyn Xavier, the country’s former Attorney General Peter McKay, the famous actor Jim Carrey, as well as the grandson of the legendary UPA leader Stepan Bandera, Stepan. This is stated in the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“In response to the practice of the regime of Prime Minister J. Trudeau imposing sanctions against the leadership of Russia, as well as anyone whom the Canadian Russophobic authorities consider objectionable, the entry of 100 Canadian citizens is closed on the basis of reciprocity,” the message reads.

They explained their choice of Canadian citizens in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation by the fact that these people are “directly involved in the formation of an aggressive anti-Russian course.”

In addition to Jim Carrey, actress Catherine Vynnik, who starred in “Vikings”, author of the novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” Margaret Atwood, historian Amy Knight and former professor of the University of Quebec Roman Serbin, who studied the Holodomor, were under restrictions.

In February, Jim Carrey strongly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Putin himself.

“It breaks my heart to see innocent people, especially children, put in harm’s way by yet another grandiose political blunder in history. Beware of the one who is not loved,” the actor wrote.

On October 28, Ottawa blacklisted Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov. Prior to that, over 1,000 Russians were sanctioned, including President Vladimir Putin, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Patriarch Kirill, head of Roskomnadzor Yury Lipov, propagandists and governors.
