Russia has added new Su-34 bombers to its ranks
The Russian Air Force received the second batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers in 2024.
This was reported by the Russian aircraft manufacturing corporation UAC.
The new aircraft were delivered as part of the state defense order, which has been in place since 2019.
The Su-34 is currently being manufactured at the Novosibirsk Chkalov Aviation Plant of the United Aircraft Corporation.
The manufacturer claims that the aircraft have undergone a full range of ground and flight tests before being handed over to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Earlier it was known that the capacity of this aircraft plant allows for the delivery of two aircraft of this type once a quarter.
However, during the handover of the second batch of Su-34s this year, UAC CEO Yuriy Slyusar said that the company is increasing production and has hired more than 600 new employees since the beginning of the year. However, it is not known whether the company has actually started producing more aircraft due to the international sanctions.
The first batch of Su-34 fighter-bombers in 2024 was received by the Russian Air Force in early April.
Su-34 fighter-bombers are actively used by the occupiers in the war against Ukraine. They are carriers of a large range of missile and bomb weapons used by the Russians.
They, in particular, drop corrected guided bombs with UMPKs and launch cruise missiles at civilian targets in Ukraine.
Due to this active use of Su-34s, since 2022 they have suffered the largest losses among other Russian aircraft.
To date, it is known that in Ukraine, the Russian occupiers have lost more than 20 aircraft of this type as destroyed or damaged.
