The occupiers are building a new airfield in the Belgorod region. It is located 75 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
According to RedIntel’s OSINT researcher Panda, the work resumed after the winter thaw.
On April 27, 2024, the base layer or the pavement itself is being laid on the runway. Sentinel Hub measures the runway at approximately 1800 meters.
Thread: Russia is constructing a new airfield about 9km west of the heart of Alekseevka, a military logistics hub in Belgorod region. In July, 2023, a road was cut to the location, and by the beginning of winter grading for the runway appeared mostly complete.

Attack on Kushchevska airfield on April 27
As you know, on the night of April 27, SBU drones attacked a military airfield in the village of Kushchevskaya in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia.
The Russian telegram channel ASTRA, citing sources in the region’s emergency services, reported that the airfield had been damaged.
The Kushchev training base also has Su-27s and possibly MiG-29s and L-39s in flight condition. There could also be radar and electronic warfare equipment.
In addition to the airfield, the distillation and atmospheric columns of the Slaviansk and Ilya oil refineries were attacked, where fires broke out.
The Ukrainian military also recently attacked the airfield in Dzhankoy. As a result of the strike, the Russians lost 4 S-400 launchers, 3 radar stations and an air defense control center.
Before that, Ukrainian forces attacked the airfield where Russians stored Tu-95 bombers, which the enemy uses to attack Ukrainian cities.
