Russia starts using new weapons – “square” missiles X-69

Western analysts suggest that Russia may have already used X-69 cruise missiles in Ukraine. Previously, the missiles were fired from Su-34s, but other types of Russian VKS aircraft can also be used as carriers for these weapons.

According to Defense Express, citing publications from other specialized publications, Russia is likely to launch the X-69 into mass production in February 2013. As of September, this missile was still undergoing flight testing.

The X-69 is a repackaging of the X-59MK2, analysts say. The missile allegedly reaches subsonic speeds, has a warhead weight of 310 kilograms, a range of up to 290 kilometers, and is “universal” for aircraft such as MiG-29K and MiG-35, Su-34 and Su-35.

At the same time, according to experts, there is currently no convincing evidence that the Russians used the X-69 from a Su-57″ aircraft, and that the very fact of using such missiles is only the occupiers’ desire to test the capabilities of the X-69 in a real combat situation.
