Russian occupation forces received modernized BMP-3 with electronic warfare system and improved armor (video)

The Russian plant Kurganmashzavod announced the transfer of a batch of modernized BMP-3s to the Russian army for the occupation forces.

The BMP-3 batch was changed based on the experience of the full-scale war against Ukraine. It is claimed that the vehicles have become more resistant to kamikaze drone attacks and have received improved armor. Additional armor plates were installed on the sides of the hull. We also installed anti-stimulus grids.

Separately, the Russian media reported that the BMP-3 will receive a system for electronic warfare. The Ukrainian Armed Forces may be countered by artificially intelligent kamikaze drones, which, if they lose communication, can continue to attack a previously captured target. However, the weather will be an obstacle, as the battery capacity of FPV drones can drop by up to 50% in winter.

It is currently unknown how many infantry fighting vehicles in Russia have already been equipped with electronic warfare stations. The Russian Federation claims that in 2023 it produced or restored more than 600 BMPs, armored personnel carriers and armored personnel carriers for the army. The enemy is increasingly relying on IFVs, as the Ukrainian army has been effectively destroying Russian armored vehicles with both drones and anti-tank guided missiles this summer.
