Russians are testing the captured Bradley combat vehicle for strength (photo)
Russia is likely studying the security and weaknesses of the American infantry fighting vehicle to learn more about the Bradley’s capabilities.
During the fighting for Avdiivka, Russian occupants captured one M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. During its transportation, Russia learned that the enemy had already fired on the vehicle’s armor. This was reported by the Defense Blog.
The occupiers are transporting a captured M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley infantry fighting vehicle by rail. The vehicle’s hull shows marks from a hit to the side of the vehicle, which also had its BRAT dynamic protection removed. It is noted that the infantry fighting vehicle was fired at from a 30-mm automatic cannon 2A42 with 3UBR6 and 3UBR8 shells. The results of the shelling are unknown, but the inscriptions on the armor left by the occupiers indicate that Bradley was tested.
The current tests of the captured Bradley infantry fighting vehicle may indicate that Russia is making efforts to gather intelligence and improve its understanding of Western military technologies.
The publication notes that Russia is carefully studying the captured samples of Western weapons and equipment. The enemy may look for weaknesses in the machines, but it may not be an attempt to copy the equipment. Analysts suggest that the Russian Armed Forces have different tactics and concepts of using the army than the West. Also, Russia has a limited industrial base that will not allow it to reproduce a high-quality copy of Western weapons. Therefore, the Russian Armed Forces are unlikely to be able to obtain similar weapons and integrate them into their own arsenal.
