Russians complain of another mysterious drone attack on their Tu-22M3, this time at the Shaykovka air base
This is the second time in three days that unidentified drones have attacked Russian X-22 bombers, and the first time it was a complete success.
A few days ago, on the morning of August 19, an attack by an unknown drone at the Sholtsy airbase, more than 650 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, destroyed a Russian Tu-22M3 long-range bomber, which can be considered a total loss.
At the same time, a number of Russian propaganda channels are now reporting that this morning, August 21, “an Armed Forces drone tried to attack an airfield in the Kaluga region.”
This refers to the Shaykovka airbase, where Russian Tu-22M3s are also based, and where a “kamikaze drone” allegedly crashed this morning, and where one of the aircraft that was “not in use” was allegedly damaged as a result of the crash (some sources say it was a “failed attack”).
No photos or videos from this airfield or other details have been released yet, but at the same time, there may well be a situation where “there is no smoke without fire.”
For example, in the case of the Tu-22M3 downing at the Soltsy airbase, the entire Russian Defense Ministry issued an official statement claiming that the aircraft was “damaged” but in reality was irretrievably lost to the Russians.
And it is also worth mentioning that the downed Tu-22M3 was attacked by “copter-type” drones, which suggests that these drones were launched directly near the air base.
If the information about the defeat (or possibly destruction) of the Russian Tu-22M3 is confirmed, it will be a unique case in history when, in fact, conventional quadcopters have successfully attacked long-range bombers twice in three days.
How exactly the mysterious drones manage to enter the territory of military airbases so easily has already been “explained” by the Rashists themselves, who now complain that they have lost their TU-22M3 because they sent all the airfield guards to the front.
