Russian tourists are stranded at Hurghada airport due to a breakdown of the plane’s flight computer. The flight was postponed several times: people have been at the airport for more than 12 hours. This is reported by the telegram channel SHOT.
It is noted that the Airbus A320-200 flight Hurghada – Moscow of AlMasria Universal Airlines was supposed to depart last night. According to the passengers, when it was already on the runway, it was announced over the loudspeaker that the Airbus was broken. There were about 180 tourists on board. They spent more than two hours on the plane, and then they were moved to the airport. The air harbor staff reported that the flight computer had broken down.
“There are families with children and elderly people among the passengers. The tour operator Coral Travel has not yet responded to people’s questions, and the airport staff has not even offered a hotel for the time being. The only food offered was a bun and water, and the rest was for money. The most enterprising Russians, who were uncomfortable or cramped to sleep in the seats, were looking for more comfortable locations to spend the night, such as the baggage screening belt,” the statement said.
It is unknown when the plane will be repaired. The new departure time has not yet been set.
As a reminder, airplanes break down in Russia, and they break down in flight. In response to the US and EU aviation sanctions that cut off Russia from supplying spare parts and aircraft maintenance, Rosaviatsiya issued certificates of aircraft developers to airlines. This allowed carriers to repair aircraft on their own and disassemble some aircraft for spare parts to service others. However, airplane breakdowns have become more frequent.
