Russians hit Tripoli TPP with five X-69 missiles – media

According to law enforcement sources, the Russian military used five X-69 missiles to attack the Trypillia thermal power plant in Kyiv region. This was reported by Suspilne.

Defense-Express previously reported that the X-69 is a subsonic cruise missile designed for tactical aviation that can be launched from Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft. This missile is also planned to be the main missile for the latest Su-57 fighter jet.

The journalists pointed out that despite the fact that the X-69 is subsonic and has a smaller warhead than the Kinzhal missile, its use in this case can be seen as a more serious threat.

What is known about the consequences of the attack:

  • On April 11, early in the morning, Russia launched an air attack on Kyiv region, damaging the Trypillia thermal power plant, according to the regional military administration. Fortunately, people were not injured.
  • As a result of the strike, DTEK announced serious damage to equipment at two thermal power plants in Ukraine. Power engineers are working to eliminate the consequences and restore the equipment.
  • “Centrenergo clarified that the Trypillia TPP was completely destroyed, and a large-scale fire broke out on the site, which led to the loss of 100% of energy generation.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that if Ukraine had enough air defense systems, including Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, the Russians would not have been able to destroy the Tripoli thermal power plant.
