Ryanair has placed a record order for the largest aircraft in its history

European low-cost airline Ryanair has placed a record order in its history for 300 Boeing 737 MAX model 737-10 aircraft. This aircraft will be the largest in the low-cost airline’s fleet.

According to the terms of the agreement, which were announced by Boeing, the order is divided into two parts. The first part of 150 aircraft is a firm order, while the other 150 units are options, i.e., the right to purchase in the future.

The Boeing 737-10 was previously known as the Boeing 737 MAX 10. It can carry 228 passengers, while Ryanair’s current main aircraft, the Boeing 737-800, can accommodate 189 people.

With the help of 150 new aircraft, the low-cost airline wants to replace the less efficient and less spacious 737-800s in its fleet, and with the remaining 150 aircraft, expand its fleet and increase passenger traffic to 300 million people a year by 2034.

“We expect these new, roomier and more fuel-efficient aircraft to deliver further cost savings that can be passed on to passengers in the form of lower fares,” commented Ryanair Group Chairman Michael O’Leary.

The Boeing 737-10 is still undergoing certification and has not yet been delivered to any airline.

Ryanair wanted to order these airliners back in 2021, but withdrew from 10 months of negotiations because it did not agree on the price with the manufacturer.

Currently, Ryanair’s fleet consists of 189-seat Boeing 737-800s of the previous generation and new 197-seat Boeing 737 MAX aircraft of the 737-8200 model.
