Saudi Arabia will host the 2029 Asian Winter Games in the ‘city of the future’

Saudi Arabia has won a bid to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games in Neom, a planned $500 billion “city of the future,” Reuters reports.

The Games should be hosted by the Trojena ski resort, whose construction is planned to be completed in 2026. It will house an artificial freshwater lake, a nature reserve and ski slopes.

The Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, announced on Twitter that he had won the bid to host the Asian Games.

In July, The Wall Street Journal published the concept of the “Mirror Line” project, which they intend to build in Saudi Arabia according to the plan of Prince Mohammed. These are buildings 480 meters high, 120 kilometers long with a planned population of up to five million people.

The building is one of a number of high-profile projects within Neom, the Kyiv Oblast-sized project conceived by Prince Mohammed to diversify Saudi Arabia’s economy.
