Scientists create VR glasses for mice to study their brain activity

Scientists are successfully using virtual reality systems to study the brain activity of mice.

This is stated in a study in the journal Neuron.

A team from Northwestern University has developed a special kind of virtual reality goggles that can be placed on a mouse’s face and most of its body. This allows you to simulate threats over the mouse’s head and simultaneously track its brain activity.

Compared to the previous methods, virtual reality draws mice in faster. Researchers use techniques such as projecting dark spots that expand on displays to build the presence of threats overhead to study the innate behavior of mice.

This method also allows us to detect both external physical reactions of mice and their neural activity. In the future, the scientists plan to study the behavior of mice as predators to find out how they react when hunting insects.
