Ukrainian low-cost airline SkyUp has found a job for its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which it was able to evacuate from Boryspil Airport in early April.
This aircraft, with the registration UR-SQP, had been idle at Ukraine’s largest airport for over a year. It was the only one in SkyUp’s fleet that the airline did not have time to move out of Ukraine at the time of the large-scale Russian invasion.
On April 4, the low-cost airline’s pilots took off from Boryspil and landed at Romania’s Iasi airport. The evacuation took place in an atmosphere of secrecy. SkyUp does not comment on the details of the evacuation.
According to Flightradar24 online radar, the Boeing 737-800 UR-SQP departed Iasi for Chisinau on April 27 and is now flying on behalf of the Moldovan airline Air Moldova to European cities.
After February 24, 2022, SkyUp changed its operating model. Previously, the airline operated its own scheduled and charter flights, but now it provides aircraft and crews on wet lease to other airlines that have a fleet shortage.
