Our soldiers at the front are using a development that can work as a mobile firing point

Soldiers of the 61st Separate Mechanized Steppe Brigade have created a remotely controlled ground robotic platform called “Fury”. According to the published photos, this platform is equipped with a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun and is made mainly of improvised elements.

In general, the characteristics of this development, such as the control range or the time of continuous operation, are not disclosed. However, we can see that in general, our soldiers have created a fairly technologically advanced and compact development that can serve as a mobile firing point.

Apparently, this platform is still a single and improvised development that was created on a grassroots initiative. However, we can estimate that such a development will be effective in repelling attacks by “assault groups” of racists who rely on “dispersing” their attack aircraft on the battlefield in order to make our artillery fire at such targets ineffective.

Looking ahead, we should also emphasize that even if such developments as the Lyuty ground drone under the PCT are scaled up, it should be only one component of the defense system of our troops at the front. At the same time, the problem of organizing fortifications will remain relevant.

It is also worth noting that, unlike flying drones of various types, the deployment of ground-based robotic systems in the Ukrainian Defense Forces attracts somewhat less attention. However, there are some interesting examples of development and application.

To begin with, it was first reported that the use of ground-based kamikaze drones by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the frontline became known in March 2023, during the fighting in the Bakhmut sector. In January 2024, during the fighting in the Avdiivka sector, an episode was recorded when a kamikaze robot with a 55-kg KZ-4 charge was used to blow up an important bridge on the Russian occupiers’ path.

We can also recall a report in September 2023 that the Roboneers’ Ironclad ground combat drone was being used for assaults and fire support on the front line.
