South Korea wants to produce N-WAVs in Poland, which can then be sold to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

What kind of wheeled infantry fighting vehicle can it be and what are its features

The South Korean company Hyundai Rotem has announced its intention to build a plant in Poland that will specialize in the production of N-WAV 8×8 wheeled armored vehicles based on K808 wheeled armored vehicles.

It is assumed that the Polish Armed Forces will be the first to buy such infantry fighting vehicles, but in the future, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are also considered as a customer, which will need a large number of new armored vehicles after the victory over the aggressor, Defense Romania portal writes.

It is emphasized that the main advantage of the South Korean N-WAV 8×8 from Hyundai Rotem should be the modularity of the design and weapons. For example, this vehicle is currently offered in a version with a “classic” diesel engine, but at the same time, a hydrogen engine version is already being developed.

Alternatively, the standard equipment of the N-WAV 8×8 from Hyundai Rotem provides that this armored vehicle will be equipped with a specially designed combat module from the Northrop Grumman Mk30 Bushmaster II, but in the version for the Polish army, this APC can be equipped with a remotely controlled module ZSSW-30 made in Poland.

The N-WAV 8×8 armor protection is designed to withstand a hit from a 14.5 mm machine gun, and the mine protection is designed to withstand the equivalent of 10 kg of TNT.

The armored vehicle will have a classic layout: an engine compartment in the front, a combat compartment in the middle, and a compartment for landing troops in the stern. The volumes of possible production have not yet been disclosed.
