Sri Lanka’s national airline SriLankan Airlines has announced the suspension of flights between Sri Lanka and Moscow.
This is stated in a statement issued by the company on March 28.
“SriLankan Airlines announces the suspension of flights between Sri Lanka and Moscow, Russia, as of today, due to operational restrictions not controlled by the airline,” the statement said.
The company notes that financial and insurance restrictions have imposed on planes bound for Russia “due to the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.”
Accordingly, SriLankan Airlines will suspend flights to Moscow until further notice.
“SriLankan will continue to monitor the situation in Russia and hopes to resume operations as soon as conditions improve,” – the company added.
Before the cessation of flights, Sri Lanka operated two weekly flights between Colombo and Moscow.
