Strike drones attack Russian aircraft factory that produced X-59 missiles
Ukraine continues to effectively use attack drones to target Russian weapons production. It is known that they managed to attack a plant that produced X-59 missiles.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported on the successful work. They say that the drone attack took place on October 1. And we talked about it yesterday, but we didn’t know the details then.
What is known about the attack on the plant
According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, on October 1, 2023, the Smolensk Aviation Plant was attacked. As a result, the production of X-59 missiles of various modifications has been disrupted.
According to confirmed data, three of the four drones hit the target, causing significant damage to the production facilities of the military enterprise of the aggressor state,” the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said.
The Main Intelligence Directorate notes that the X-59 missiles in the X-59MK2 air-to-surface modifications are capable of hitting at a distance of up to 280 kilometers. This is one of the missiles that the occupiers most often use to hit military and civilian targets in Ukraine.
Russians used them in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
What is known about the attack on Smolensk on October 1
- In fact, the Russian media reported that day that an unmanned aerial vehicle attacked a plant of the Tactical Missile Arms state corporation in Smolensk. In fact, this is the same enterprise that manufactures X-59 missiles.
- In the videos posted by eyewitnesses, you can hear the operation of small arms before the explosion. This completely destroys the claims of the so-called Russian Ministry of Defense that all air targets were shot down.
- In fact, it boasted that they had allegedly shot down three UAVs over the region. But this was not enough, so soon they added that two more drones had been shot down. The governor of the region noted at the time that there were no casualties.
- It is worth noting that the plant’s territory is also home to the Pivdennyi airfield. The experimental flight test station of the same aircraft plant is based there.
