Science and technology, explained simply
SpaceX has made two attempts to launch the Starship spacecraft into orbit. As part of the third test, the aerospace company and NASA plan to test the refueling technology in orbit. NASA wants to test the viability of the concept of orbital refueling of the spacecraft. At the same time, the agency has not yet […]
After months of waiting, SpaceX has received partial approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to begin deploying the Starlink cellular system – but only for short tests. The FCC has decided to “partially grant, partially deny” the company’s application to operate a satellite service that is being developed to provide connectivity to T-Mobile smartphones. […]
After two successful Falcon 9 rocket launches from California and Florida, SpaceX ended the first weekend of December with a static test of the Falcon Heavy rocket. The ignition of 27 Merlin engines took place a week before the scheduled national security launch, which had been planned for half a dozen years. The U.S. Space […]
Amazon eventually signed a deal for three Falcon 9 launches from SpaceX to deploy its ambitious Kuiper project, which involves building a massive satellite internet network. This deal came as a surprise, as Amazon had not previously considered SpaceX as a potential partner for the first launch contracts, which caused shareholders to be dissatisfied and […]
SpaceX said in the company’s email invitation that its newest Starlink dish will cost $599. A Starlink subscriber posted a screenshot of the email on Reddit. The price of $599 means that the new antenna will cost the same as Starlink’s current hardware kit, which includes a second-generation dish and a Gen 2 Wi-Fi router. […]
Elon Musk’s company plans to start testing satellite cellular services using 840 spacecraft next month. At the end of last year, it became known that SpaceX intends to equip Starlink telecommunications satellites with equipment that will allow them to be used for cellular communication – ordinary smartphones will be able to connect without any modifications. […]
SpaceX has launched 23 more Starlink satellites into orbit, adding to its ever-growing Internet mega constellation, Space reports. A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying Starlink satellites was launched from Cape Canaveral Spaceport in Florida at 06:20 Kyiv time. The first stage of the Falcon 9 returned to Earth about 8.5 minutes after launch. It landed […]
NASA has announced that two scientific spacecraft will travel to Mars in August 2024 aboard a Blue Origin rocket owned by Jeff Bezos. This decision apparently came about after Elon Musk’s SpaceX encountered difficulties in its attempts to deliver Falcon Heavy rockets to Mars orbit. Initially, SpaceX planned to deliver NASA’s spacecraft to Mars in […]
SpaceX launched 23 more Starlink Internet satellites into orbit from Florida on the morning of November 22, Space reports. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was launched from Cape Canaveral Spaceport in Florida at 09:47 Kyiv time. The rocket’s first stage landed on the A Shortfall of Gravitas automatic platform in the Atlantic Ocean in about […]
The third Starship may be ready to launch in 3-4 weeks, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said. However, it is not yet known whether the company will have time to obtain the necessary permit by then. Starship Flight 3 hardware should be ready to fly in 3 to 4 weeks. There are three ships in final […]
