Telegram to take action against “problematic channels” identified by Ukrainian authorities
Telegram received a list of “potentially problematic” channels from the Ukrainian authorities and is now analyzing them. They promise to take action if they find violations. This was stated by the platform’s representative Remy Wong in a comment to NV.
“We are currently studying it (the list from the Ukrainian authorities – ed.) and will take action against any content that violates Telegram’s terms of service,” Wong said.
However, the company’s representative did not specify who provided the list and which channels are included in it.
At the same time, Wong noted that Telegram is a safe messenger for Ukrainians and users in other countries.
“Telegram was specially created to protect users from Russian surveillance,” the company representative emphasized.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech concluded that Telegram should be banned in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian authorities believe that Russian occupiers are using Telegram to spread their propaganda among Ukrainian users. In particular, the NSDC and the GUR stated that Telegram poses a “threat” and is “dangerous.”
