There has been controversy among users about whether Tesla’s fully autonomous driving system was the right thing to do. According to California law, cars must always yield to pedestrians.
Tesla’s autopilot is often called one of the most advanced in the world, but even it makes mistakes. This time, the system ignored a person crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing. The video was posted on Twitter.
The video shows the operation of the beta version of Tesla’s full autonomous driving system. Apparently, the technology still needs to be improved.
The video was recorded on a street in San Francisco. In the video, a woman was about to cross the road on a pedestrian crossing. The autopilot noticed the pedestrian, but continued on its trajectory anyway.
One of the most bullish / exciting things I've seen on Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta 11.4.1.
It detected the pedestrian, but rather than slamming on the brakes it just proceeded through like a human would knowing there was enough time to do so. pic.twitter.com/8GISp4jYGp

Interestingly, the owner of the Twitter account where the video was posted defended the full autonomous driving system. According to him, drivers in big cities usually drive this way.
Most users still believe that the autopilot should have slowed down before the pedestrian crossing. In the state of California, such a maneuver is considered a gross violation of traffic rules.
