Tesla has started accepting orders for the Roadster at a very “sweet” price

Tesla has opened pre-orders for the Roadster, despite an unclear release date. The company “hopes” that production will be restarted next year. The price is affordable.

Tesla is once again accepting orders for the Roadster long-range construction. The order form for the electric two-door appeared on Tesla’s official website on June 1: there, those interested are offered an advance payment of five thousand dollars to reserve their copy. The full price of the “second” Roadster is 45 thousand dollars. At the same time, Tesla has not yet announced the exact release date of the model.

At the annual shareholders’ meeting in May, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced another shift in the date of the “second” Roadster. According to him, the design is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, and the company hopes to start mass production at the end of 2024.

Before that, the launch of the Roadster was repeatedly postponed. The model was introduced back in 2017 with the intention of putting it on the assembly line in three years. However, due to panic over the coronavirus and problems with the supply of components, the debut was postponed to 2022, then to 2023, and finally to 2024. Moreover, the words chosen by Musk do not reject the new transfer.

In addition, the Roadster is a niche car, which Musk called “not even a cherry on top, but a cherry on top of a cherry.” Therefore, it is not among the priority projects for Tesla, which is focused on increasing sales of mass models. In addition, the company has another “long-delayed project” – the high-profile Cybertruck electric pickup truck, for which many customers paid $100 down. It is going to be launched in early 2024.
