Thanks to satellite images, it was possible to find out how many Tu-22M3s are deployed at the Mozdok airfield (photo)

This data is important because the enemy regularly uses these aircraft as X-22 carriers for strikes against Ukraine.

As of April 22, 2024, six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, four Su-24M/MR aircraft, and approximately 20 helicopters of various types were deployed at the Russian airfield Mozdok. At the same time, the racists drew silhouettes of fake Tu-22M3 and Su-24M/MR for some reason.

The corresponding satellite images were posted publicly on his Twitter account by an OSINT analyst under the nickname Evergreen Intel.

From Defense Express, we emphasize that such data is important from several perspectives. To begin with, we can recall that, according to the Air Force, the Russian occupiers have regularly used supersonic cruise missiles X-22 launched from Tu-22M3 for massive strikes against Ukraine over the past month: five missiles of this type were used on March 22, three missiles on March 28, and six missiles during an attack on April 19 (as a result, two X-22s were shot down).

In addition, we should recall that on April 19, 2024, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down one Tu-22M3. And judging by the crash site, it was probably on its way to the Mozdok airfield.

Based on the data that the Russian Aerospace Forces actually have only 30 Tu-22M3 bombers in service, it turns out that the Russian military has concentrated at least one fifth of its fleet of these aircraft at one airfield.

It is worth recalling that the Rashists began using the Mozdok airfield as a base for their Tu-22M3s, which were used to strike Ukraine, no later than the end of May 2023. By that time, the airfield could be undergoing repairs, which started in 2020; until 1992, Mozdok was used as a base for Tu-95MS, and in 2016, the Rashidists lifted the same Tu-22M3s from this airfield as classic “bombers” for strikes on Syria.

In addition, from November 2023 to March 2014, the Russians also used Mozdok as a base for their MiG-31Ks for Kinzhal missiles. Satellite images from January 2024 showed that there were two aircraft of this type at the airport.
