The Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the use of “smart” JDAM bombs
The combat aviation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has begun to use the “smart” JDAM bombs supplied by the Pentagon to strike enemy positions. Yuriy Ihnat announced this during a telethon.
The speaker of the Armed Forces did not consider it necessary to hide the fact that the strikes carried out with the help of Western-style bombs are more than successful. Compared to traditional bombs, JDAMs are less powerful. At the same time, the lower power of the ammunition is more than compensated for by its high accuracy. JDAM bombs are used to hit important targets. The Armed Forces of Ukraine need as many of these bombs as possible.
A JDAM is a body kit (tail fins, wings, etc.) with a GPS guidance system. The bombs in the munition do not fall down, but plan. Thus, they turn into all-weather, adjustable munitions. During planning, a “smart” bomb can change its flight path to ensure higher strike accuracy.
By the way, the occupiers have also begun to use an analog of JDAM against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian planning bombs are now affecting mainly the south and north of Ukraine.
